A good ecommerce website, I learned, need not only be pretty but should also be functional, engaging, and credible.
When I was still in the planning phase of building my online storefront, I tried to DIY everything – the graphics, the web design, and the contents. I was successful in some parts but since I don’t have a web design nor programming background, it took me quite a while to figure out what to do. It was then that I realized that some things are better left to the experts. Outsourcing the more technical aspects of website building has saved me time and energy and enabled me to focus on marketing and customer service.
I’m really thankful that, through my online network, I’ve come across fellow WAHMs who are not only pros in their field but also delightful people to work with. Two of them are Patricia and Martine.
Patricia is the designer behind Fancy Girl Design Studio. She’s the one who crafted my super cute logo and designed my shop’s website as well. One look at her portfolio will tell you how chic and feminine her designs are – a perfect fit for Mayumi&Me!
Over the past year, MayumiandMe.com has undergone a lot of changes, and every time, I trust only Patricia to do the web design. Her expertise is invaluable especially when I finally decided to migrate to WordPress. I love that she patiently goes through every detail to make sure everything looks AND works great.
Martine is the editor-in-chief at MartinedeLuna.com. She provides “creative direction and empowered business solutions for women-owned businesses”.
The first time we worked together was when I sponsored my first ever giveaway on her lifestyle blog, Dainty Mom. And then I had the pleasure of meeting her in person when I attended the first WAHMderful Workshop which she organized in collaboration with Manila Workshops.
With her help, I did not just get well-written website copies but also a clearer definition of my brand. Thanks to the brand story worksheets and branding exercises, I was also able to discover more about what my little shop means to me, my family, and my niche market. Because of this, I now have a more streamlined business plan to guide me in making decisions while upholding my values and promoting my advocacies.
